    Description

    Pair of vintage L. E. Smith bittersweet orange slag glass vases, in overall good condition without chips or cracks.  The larger vase (7 x 7 inches) has what appears to be two bubbles that have burst at the surface, leaving a hole and a cavity in the glass.  Looking through a hand lens, these do not appear to be chips, but rather a factory defect.  There is also a long scratch on the outer surface of the larger vase, but is smooth, not sharp, as if it occurred during creation of piece. The flaws described are shown in close-up photos. It appears that the larger vase is a factory second.  The smaller vase (5 x 6 inches) has no bubbles, but what appears to be a scratch as well, possibly a common result from slag molding.  There does not appear to be any other flaw to these two vases.
