Bottom line is that the peak to peak voltage from top to bottom on the scope determines the volume level. While the low cost Asian GERMANIUM 1N34A Diode may work if you are close to the Radio transmitting tower, it may perform poorly or not at all in fringe areas of 10 miles away or more. One more thing about diodes for Crystal Radio applications. After purchasing about 10,000 diodes for my own testing, I came to the realization that when one orders diodes online at incredible low costs, it is by no means for certain that what you receive will be what you order.
