Up for auction at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an
ANTIQUE CAST IRON COUNTERTOP BOOK BINDING PRESS with what appears to be the original maroon and gold scroll paint
. Fine working condition. The wheel turns smoothly and easily; the plates tightly press together.  Maroon with hand painted gold scroll patterns. Maximum space between plates is 2 3/8”. Most likely a Pridmore Automatic Screwpress, made in Chicago. Circa: 1870.
The book press is a handsome, historic item that fits in anywhere —  from library to office to great room to class room.
A treasure that illuminates literature and reading.
