Vintage Asian Themed China Hand Painted 9 7/8 inch
    Dinner Plates
    Set of 6
    Unknown Maker
What a beautiful find! This set of Asian themed hand painted, dinner plates are beautiful. Each plate has a different hand painted flower theme which beautifully accents the beauty of the other dinner plates. These dinner plates are gorgeous and could be used in a home decor display. The artist brings you into a beautiful visual of Asian artistry that the world has come to admire. With its floral design, that includes a variety of floral accents and an added bonus of a butterfly in bright beautiful colors that perfectly accents each piece, these plates will catch the attention of everyone that sees them. Each piece is hand painted, making each one a one of a kind piece of art that accents the set.
We have not been able to figure out the maker of these pieces (or the other pieces that will be listed from this set). It is likely from the early 1900s given the material used and the shape and style of the pieces themselves. However, after exhausting research options, we are not able to definitively make this claim.
Both Haviland and Haviland Limoges have pieces that match the mold(s) of the various pieces that we have. However, if they produced the pattern, they are not marked, nor can we find any pieces, identical to this set, to confirm this. The style, shapes and accent details, on these pieces, were produced during the late 1800s to early 1900s.
Depending on how various sets of China, such as this, were obtained, also lend us to the conclusion that these pieces are antique based on the McKinney Tariff Act of 1890, which required any imported China to be clearly marked, in English. Without any mark, on any piece and comparisons to other patterns/molds/styles of that era, this lead us to feel more confident in our conclusions for the age of these pieces.
Each dinner plate is 9 7/8 inches in diameter. There is minimal wear on the hand painted design. There is light scuffing on the bottom of these plates from having been used and preowned. This can only be expected given that these are an antique set. 4 of the 6 plates have small chips on the rim. Another one of these plates has 3 chips. It would appear that this likely occurred by dropping a box with them in it, or something similar, as the chips all pretty well line up with one another and are similar in size, except for the one with 3 chips. Even that one lines up in that they are similar in size and placement on the rim only. There are no additional damages/flaws or repairs to any of these dinner plates beyond what has been noted. Please see photos.
